The Leones Halloween Show [10.20.18]
On Saturday, October 20th, Mohawk Place raised hell itself with a spooktacular Halloween show, starring Buffalo's own nightmare-pop purveyors The Leones. In the midst of writing their next album, the band used the opportunity to preview a slew of phantasmic new material, drawing equal inspiration from classic 80s horror movie soundtracks and Angelo Badalamenti's lush and haunting Twin Peaks score. Like The War on Drugs broadcast from The Upside Down, The Leones created an atmosphere of widescreen wonder and chills. Local supporting acts included Humble Braggers, closing out the year touring behind their latest EP, Cycle, and witchy post-punk quartet Orations, whose Elizabeth-Fraser-meets-The-Banshees sound fit the bill like a blood-stained glove.
